What this site does
Global Data Centers tracks proposed hyperscale and AI data center projects across the United States and worldwide. Every project on the site is sourced from public records, county agendas, local news, and community reports. The site includes a nationwide project map, county-level risk scores, a moratorium tracker, and a paid opposition letter service.
How the letters work
For $9, you fill out a short form with your name, address, county, and concerns. We research the county commissioners in your area, write a personalized opposition letter, and email it to every commissioner on your behalf. You get copied on each one. Over 13,000 letters have been delivered so far.
How we verify projects
Every project entry on the site cites its sources. We pull from county commission agendas, comprehensive plan amendments, rezoning applications, water management district filings, and local news coverage. When a status changes (a vote happens, a project gets withdrawn, a moratorium passes), we update the entry and note what changed. If we get something wrong, we correct it. Report errors through the contact page or the corrections page.
What we do not do
We do not lobby for or against data center development. We do not take money from developers, utilities, advocacy groups, or government agencies. We do not provide legal advice. If you need guidance on a matter affecting your legal rights, property, or finances, hire a licensed professional.
How this is funded
The site is independent. No investors, no sponsors, no grants. Revenue comes from opposition letter sales, merchandise, and donations. The project map, risk scores, moratorium tracker, and all reporting are free and will stay free.
Editorial standards
If we cannot cite a public record or credible news source, we do not publish it. Every project page links to its sources. Our risk scores are calculated from publicly available data on power infrastructure, water availability, land use, and proximity to existing projects. The methodology is documented on the sources page.
Corrections are taken seriously. If you find a factual error, report it and we will fix it. Significant corrections are noted on the affected page.
