What is Global Data Centers?

Global Data Centers is an independent platform that tracks proposed hyperscale and AI data center projects worldwide. The site maps active proposals, scores community risk, tracks moratoriums, and runs an opposition letter service that has delivered over 13,000 letters to county commissioners on behalf of residents fighting development in their communities.

Global Data Centers was created by James Boger, a 21-year-old self-taught developer based in West Palm Beach, Florida. Before this, James was building websites for small businesses. He started seeing data center opposition blowing up across social media and recognized it as a rising issue with no central resource behind it. No single site existed where a resident could figure out what was proposed near them, who their commissioners were, and what they could do about it. So he built one.

The site launched and hit over a million visits within its first month. What started as a Florida tracker has since grown into a nationwide platform with over 50,000 email subscribers and a combined following across TikTok and Instagram under @jamesdatacenters.

Global Data Centers is fully independent. No money from developers, utilities, advocacy groups, or government. The project is funded entirely by letter sales, merchandise, and donations.
