Data centers in Poland: 3 projects mapped

Poland's data center growth is centered on Warsaw, and so is the first organized opposition. In Piaseczno, south of the capital, Sien Real, a joint venture of the Polish builder Budimex and Spain's Ferrovial, plans four data center buildings on Energetyczna Street, with a 70-megawatt power connection, under permits issued in 2024; fencing is up and work has begun. Residents protested at the construction fence on September 16, 2026, and Piaseczno's mayor, Daniel Putkiewicz, asked the developer to hold an open meeting for residents on September 29.

Protest organizer Anna Rzewnicka said the nearest house is 35 meters away and each building will be 25 meters tall: "Hałas będzie tu 24 godziny na dobę" (there will be noise here 24 hours a day). The environmental report allows up to 286.48 cubic meters of water a day for all four buildings; the developer says the current design draws up to 55. Residents fear that in a shortage the site would get water first. The mayor has proposed a working group of residents and council members to negotiate water, noise and waste heat with the developer.

A second fight is at Reguły, in Michałowice municipality near Warsaw, where Hillwood plans four large buildings on about 40 hectares, at about 130 megawatts, for an unnamed tenant. About 1,200 people signed a petition against it. Bigger plans are further out: a campus of up to 500 megawatts at Domiechowice near Bełchatów, and WBS Power's Baltic Data Center Campus at Lublewo in Choczewo, which the company says would reach 3.2 gigawatts, a figure not confirmed by the grid operator. Poland's data centers together used about 250 megawatts in 2025.
