The Fort Bragg data center is an Army proposal to lease unused land on the North Carolina base to a private developer for an AI data center; as of July 2026 it remained a solicitation with no developer chosen. The Army offered six sites on the base, which spans Cumberland and Harnett counties, ranging from 78 to 205 acres and totaling 734 acres, with proposals due January 22, 2026.

Procurement documents describe the sites as mostly pine and hardwood forest, rate the base's water risk as "High," and note that several possible locations sit within a mile of civilian areas and half a mile of civilian housing. The Army's terms differ from commercial projects off base: proposals must include net-zero water use and a power plan that does not draw on the local grid, and bidders must describe local outreach and assess "any risks or opposition" to the project.

Of the four Army bases the Army sought bids for in January, only two had picked developers by March: Carlyle at Fort Bliss, Texas, and CyrusOne at Dugway Proving Ground, Utah, each in exclusive negotiations on projects estimated at about $2 billion; Fort Bragg was not among them.

Any Fort Bragg lease is the Army's decision, with the Army Corps of Engineers negotiating terms and conducting environmental review for whichever site is selected; the Association of Defense Communities plans further discussion of military data centers at its Installation Innovation Forum in October 2026.
