HUMAIN, the artificial intelligence company of Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund, broke ground in August 2025 on a 100-megawatt data center in Dammam, in the kingdom's Eastern Province, one of its first two sites alongside a matching facility in Riyadh. CEO Tareq Amin told Bloomberg the Dammam site was expected to go live in the second quarter of 2026, a target that has now passed with no result published.
At groundbreaking, HUMAIN was still buying the chips for the sites from the United States, including 18,000 Nvidia GB300 chips, and Amin said the timeline for receiving them depended on "the governance and the protocols and the approval of the US government," formalities he said the company would begin "very, very soon." HUMAIN, launched in May 2025, aims to deliver 6.6 gigawatts of data center capacity over the next decade; it has also partnered with AWS on a $5 billion AI Zone and signed a deal with AMD for 500 megawatts of computing power.
