Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst data center, Fort Dix, New Jersey

The Department of the Air Force is weighing private data center proposals for land at Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst, home to Fort Dix in Burlington County, New Jersey. The base's 73-acre and 120-acre parcels were offered to developers in an October 2025 solicitation, one of five Air Force sites in that round. By late July 2026 no lease had been awarded and no company chosen; only two military-base data center deals anywhere, at Fort Bliss, Texas, and Dugway Proving Ground, Utah, had moved past the proposal stage, Military.com reported.

No project is planned yet at the New Jersey base beyond the solicitation itself; the Air Force said it would review proposals and negotiate lease terms with any bidder chosen. Bidders were required to plan for net-zero water use, power that does not draw on the local electric grid, and local outreach addressing "any risks or opposition," terms that do not apply to commercial data centers built off base, Military.com reported. There is no public report of who, if anyone, bid on the McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst parcels or when a decision might come.
