Nothing has been reported from Maadi Technology Park in Cairo, Egypt, since Khazna Data Centers of Abu Dhabi and the Egyptian contractor Benya Group said in May 2023 they would build the country's first hyperscale data centre there. Construction was meant to start later in 2023 and take about three years, which would put completion around now.
The plan was 25 megawatts of IT load across 40,000 square metres, at 250 million dollars. Egypt's General Authority for Investment and Free Zones placed it within a national plan to bring data centre industries into the country. For Khazna, formed in 2021 from the data centre arms of Etisalat and the Abu Dhabi AI company G42, it was the first project outside the United Arab Emirates.
