Project Silver Fox, a hyperscale data center planned on 606 acres in Indiantown, Florida, is back before residents after developers withdrew an earlier, smaller version of the plan in April 2026. Developers Panattoni Development Co. and Ferreira Construction held an open house on September 21, 2026, in this Martin County village, and Adam Kramer, a Panattoni managing partner, said they plan to sell the finished project to Crux AI, a joint venture between Google and the private equity firm Blackstone.

Kramer described a 1-gigawatt campus, with the facility taking about 34 percent of the land and 66 percent left undeveloped, about 3,000 construction workers and 300 employees, and $44 million a year in local utility franchise taxes. He said cooling would run through a closed-loop system and that the facility would not rely on Indiantown's water supply.

"We're very confident this is going to happen because we chose a site that is by right to build a data center here," Kramer said, and he told TCPalm his company would fight a moratorium.

The land is the problem for many neighbors. Records WPTV obtained in March 2026 for the earlier 2-million-square-foot plan at 13820 Silver Fox Road showed that about 230 of the 606 acres are wetlands, and South Florida Water Management District officials found wood storks, sandhill cranes, gopher tortoise activity and a bald eagle's nest there. Matthew Schwartz of the South Florida Wildlands Association called it the wrong place for a data center: "These areas are rich in wildlife because they're in a very rural area."

"I still hate the idea," said Carroll McAllister, who keeps cattle within three-quarters of a mile of the site. "It's the noise. It's the water. It's the light." Julie Roberts, whose family bought land nearby in 1918, said they live less than two miles from the site and have concerns "about the health, about the heat, about the noise level."

Mayor Phyllis Waters Brown said she came for answers: "I am not for or against. I have an open mind." The developers say the next step is site plan review with village staff. The Village Council is expected to take the first of two required votes on a one-year data center moratorium in October 2026.
