Henan's data centers are concentrated in the Zhengzhou Airport Economy Zone, a national-level development zone beside Zhengzhou's international airport that also hosts Foxconn and a BYD car plant. The newest is a national AI computing center: on April 14, 2026, what state television called China's largest scientific AI computing cluster began operating at the national supercomputing network's core node in Zhengzhou, built on Chinese-made chips. A separate large AI computing cluster in Zhengzhou opened its first phase in 2025 and is planned to become the biggest in central China.
The state phone carriers and the server maker Inspur have built near the airport for more than a decade. In 2015 Inspur started a 3 billion yuan Yunhai science and technology park there, which it called the largest cloud data center ever built in Henan, cooled by outside air for 38% of the year.
In October 2021 China Telecom broke ground on its 3.4 billion yuan Central China data center in the airport district, a key provincial project. Its first phase, two data halls and a generator building, was scheduled for delivery in June 2022; no news of its completion has been published.
