Data centers in Riyadh Province: 5 projects mapped
Riyadh Province's data center building is led by Humain, the Saudi artificial intelligence company Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman launched in 2025 under the kingdom's sovereign wealth fund. Humain's Riyadh site broke ground with 100 megawatts of power and a target of going live in the second quarter of 2026; whether it met that date has not been announced. Humain says it has secured 211 plots of land across the country but has not said where most of them are.
Humain's largest plan for the province is a 6-gigawatt campus east of Riyadh in the Al-Saad area, tendered in two phases of six 1-gigawatt plots on a 24-square-kilometre site, MEED reported. Humain has also proposed a 500-megawatt data center with xAI and a joint venture of up to 1 gigawatt with Saudi Telecom, though exact sites for both have not been disclosed. Khazna Data Centers and Tencent Cloud also run sites in Riyadh without published capacity figures.
Nearly all of Saudi Arabia's data centers sit in regions too hot for normal operation, a Rest of World and Climate Central analysis found, and the country's standards body is drafting rules for the evaporative coolers used to manage that heat. There are no public planning disputes in Riyadh Province of the kind seen in the United States.
