Data centers in Labette County, Kansas: 1 project mapped

HyperDatagrid, a Texas company, has a six-month option to buy 20-plus acres in the Tolen Creek Industrial Park in Parsons for a small data center of about 20 megawatts of power. The Parsons City Commission approved the option unanimously in July 2026, with a possible six-month extension. The company is to report back when the option ends, around January 2027, and building would need a separate approval.

"In six months, if we don't like it, we can walk away," Commissioner Verlyn Bolinger said. During the option the company will study utilities, review land use and survey the site. Local station KSNF/KODE described a 10-megawatt, 26-acre project on the north end of town, near the Tank Connection offices. Clay Roberts of HyperDatagrid told commissioners the company would be "as upfront and as transparent as we possibly can."

The city is selling the project on water sales. One of the company's cooling plans uses very little water; the other would use up to 50,000 gallons a day as it grows. Utilities Director Derek Clevenger said that amount "would take just about an hour a day to make with our water plant," which runs at about half its capacity even at the summer peak. The city estimates up to $150,000 a year in water sales and up to $150,000 a year in utility franchise fees. "This is exactly what we're looking for," Mayor Kevin Cruse said.
