Dickson City Development LLC, tied to Kriger Construction, wants to build four data centers along Bell Mountain above Business Route 6 in Dickson City, Lackawanna County, Pennsylvania, and the borough has denied every application so far. In May 2026 the borough's Zoning Hearing Board upheld the borough's data center ordinance and rejected the developer's appeals of all four denials. The developer's separate court challenge to the ordinance is still pending in the Lackawanna County Court of Common Pleas.

Borough council limited data centers in February 2026 to a light manufacturing district near Enterprise and Railroad streets, which excludes Bell Mountain. The developer's attorney, Michael Mey, argued that district lacks the land and power lines a data center needs, but borough planner Thomas Shepstone testified it would fit: "We've identified land where you can put this use, and the bottom line is that it has been done before."

Three companies called Dickson City Power, also tied to Kriger Construction, are separately seeking approval for natural gas plants totaling 600 megawatts on the same stretch of Bell Mountain. Asked whether the power could go to a data center, their witness, power executive Randall Holmes, said, "In theory, it could be a data center," though he said no arrangements had been made. Resident Tim Pfleiderer, who lives less than 1,000 feet from one proposed plant, asked Holmes if he would want the plant in his own backyard; Holmes answered yes.

The Zoning Hearing Board was scheduled to reconvene on the power plant applications on July 22, 2026; no result has been published. The data centers' fate now rests with the Lackawanna County Court of Common Pleas, where the developer can also appeal the May denials.
