Google Jurong West data center, Singapore

Google's Jurong West data center sits on land the company bought in western Singapore in 2011. Its first building opened in 2013, a second came online in 2015, and in 2018 Google began a third, multi-story facility "just down the road" from the first two, 9to5Google reported. That third building started operating in 2022, bringing Google's long-term Singapore data center investment to 850 million dollars.

Google says it uses recycled water to cool its Singapore data centers. A fourth facility was completed in 2024, taking Google's technical infrastructure investment in the country to 5 billion dollars, the company says. Google has disclosed no specifications or power figures for any of its Singapore data centers.

Singapore reopened applications for new data centers in 2022 after a three-year pause, with rules meant to limit power use and environmental impact. On August 21, 2026 the Economic Development Board and the Infocomm Media Development Authority provisionally picked Digital Realty, Equinix, Keppel Data Centres and ST Telemedia Global Data Centres to split 200 megawatts of new capacity from more than 20 proposals; Google was not among them. The winners must draw more than half their power from green sources and will build in a low-carbon data center park on Jurong Island.

The two agencies said they would review whether to open another call for applications in 18 to 24 months.
