HostDime Data Center, Eatonville, Florida

HostDime, an Orlando-based company, is finishing a seven-story, 100,000-square-foot data center on the edge of Eatonville, Orange County, Florida, with a Maitland mailing address on Wymore Road, near Interstate 4 and Lee Road. The building missed its July 2025 opening deadline under HostDime's agreement with the Town of Eatonville, and the town has fined the company $250 a day since, with fines reaching $99,250 by September 1, 2026.

HostDime CEO Manny Vivar told Channel 9 on September 3 the data center could open as early as October if it passes final inspection. A day earlier, Eatonville Mayor Ruthi Critton said HostDime is expected to hold a ribbon-cutting and open the facility this month, and that the town is "still hopeful nevertheless that we can get it all worked out."

At a September 1 council meeting, Councilman Tarus Mack addressed Vivar, who was not there: "I'm extremely disappointed in everything that has been taking place with you not showing accountability, disrespecting my community. Don't make your mouth write a check that you can't cash." Vivar called the fines "salt to a wound" and said the town using them as leverage isn't helping, though HostDime wants the project done as much as anyone. The council put off a vote on doubling the fine to $500 a day until it meets with the developer.

A proposed amendment would make it legally binding for the town to withhold the final certificate of occupancy unless HostDime meets commitments on sound dampening, water use and utility standards. The town gave HostDime $200,000 to reimburse it for designing and building water and sewer connections, and Critton said the flooding, noise and water concerns residents raised have been addressed, though some infrastructure work is still underway. HostDime broke ground on the site, the former home of a historic Eatonville school, in 2016, when it described an 88,000-square-foot building expected to open in 2018; the company says the finished facility will become its flagship Orlando data center.
