Huawei built its Langfang data center in 2012 on a converted factory site near the G2 expressway, about 1 kilometer from the Beijing city line. Huawei calls it the core node for its cloud business in northern China, with about 50,000 square meters of floor space and room for 4,500 server racks, Leiphone reported in 2018.
Only the first construction phase was running as of that report; Huawei had set aside another 700 mu, about 115 acres, next to it for later phases. The site is also one of four Huawei data center "open labs," used to test hardware and software with outside vendors, according to the same report.
