Iron Mountain is building a two-building data center campus in the Ambattur area of Chennai, India, meant to reach 42 megawatts of power in total. The first building, CHN-1, topped out in April 2026 and is due to open later this year with 23.2 megawatts of capacity. The second building, CHN-2, is expected to add another 19 megawatts by 2028.
The 4.3-acre campus will hold 800,000 square feet of space between the two buildings once finished. Iron Mountain entered India in 2021 through a joint venture with Web Werks, then bought the company outright, taking over six data centers in five Indian cities.
