Kasi Cloud LOS1 data center, Lekki, Lagos

Kasi Cloud Datacenters opened LOS1, the first building of its planned 100 megawatt data center campus, in the Maiyegun area of Lekki, Lagos State, Nigeria, in May 2026. Lagos Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, who presided over the 2022 groundbreaking, returned to officiate the flag-off ceremony, which Kasi described as LOS1's move from construction into operational readiness. The campus covers about four hectares next to six subsea internet cables, including Equiano and 2Africa.

Kasi broke ground in April 2022, when the project was reported to be backed by $250 million of investment, and the Nigeria Sovereign Investment Authority, which manages the country's sovereign wealth funds, is among its investors. Kasi has said the facility will be powered by gas, solar and battery storage, aiming for a power usage effectiveness rating (a measure of energy efficiency) below 1.6.

"For too long, Africa's data has powered someone else's economy. Today, that changes," said Johnson Agogbua, Kasi's founder and CEO. Kasi pitches the site as an in-country option under Nigeria's National Cloud Policy 2025, which it says requires sensitive government and financial data to be hosted in Nigeria. Finance Minister Taiwo Oyedele and NSIA chief executive Aminu Umar-Sadiq also attended the ceremony.

Most of Nigeria's data centers are clustered around Lagos, where Equinix, Digital Realty, MTN and Rack Centre also operate, and Kasi is developing another data center in Eket in southern Nigeria.

The rest of the campus is to be built out toward about 100 megawatts of IT capacity, and LOS1 now goes through phased commissioning, systems integration and customer readiness work before full commercial operations.
