Capacity LLC has been trying to build a 500 megawatt data center campus on about 168 acres at the northwest corner of Wynn and Corduroy roads in Oregon, Lucas County, Ohio, land the city spent years assembling. The Oregon City Council denied developer Will Turner of Capacity LLC a six month extension in February 2026, giving him until March 31 to finalize plans, and by July 2026 city officials had named Vantage Data Centers as the prospective developer of three buildings on the site.

City administrator Brodin Walters called the deal "a really complicated math problem that we have to convince, you know, the community and city council that it's a good deal." The city describes the project at full build as about 500 megawatts of power, $2 billion to $3 billion of investment, and 20,000 to 30,000 gallons of water a day with closed loop cooling; Oregon has spent about $8.6 million of its own money assembling the land over ten years.

One resident whose home sat near the planned site said: "Due to the picture that they painted us, we sold the home...I wouldn't have done it if I would have known what I know now."

United Neighbors of Oregon gathered signatures for a charter amendment capping data centers at 25 megawatts and steering them to brownfield and industrial land; organizer James Davis said, "We're okay with data centers as long as they're suitably sized for the communities." Oregon is one of nine Ohio communities with petitions on the November 2026 ballot that mirror a statewide effort to ban data centers drawing more than 25 megawatts.
