Project Fei data center, near Childress, Texas

Soluna Holdings has secured land for Project Fei, its planned solar-powered data center near Childress, Texas, and said in July 2026 that it has begun raising money and designing construction; construction itself has not started. The project was announced in August 2025 as a 100-megawatt site colocated with a 240-megawatt solar farm. In its second-quarter results on August 13, 2026, Soluna said it had raised Fei's power to 240 megawatts to run AI computing.

Fei is named after Dr. Fei-Fei Li, the computer scientist who founded the ImageNet data set. Soluna is still negotiating power contracts and working with ERCOT, the Texas grid operator, to connect the project; its July update said interconnection studies for Fei and for its Project Annie were nearing completion. Soluna's business puts data centers next to wind and solar plants that have more power than the grid can use; it said it was running about 192 megawatts across three sites as of August 1, 2026.

Separately, Crusoe and Lancium announced a much larger, 1-gigawatt AI data center campus on 270 acres in Childress on July 15, 2026, expected to begin construction in the third quarter of 2026 and create more than 100 long-term jobs. What decides Fei's own timing is its ERCOT grid connection and the financing Soluna is still raising.
