Data centers in McCulloch County, Texas: 1 project mapped
The only data center proposed in McCulloch County is Cipher's Mikeska project, outside Brady near Doole, planned at up to 500 megawatts. Data Center Dynamics first reported it in February 2025 as one of three 500-megawatt sites Cipher held options on, then expected to be powered in 2027. By September 2026, San Angelo Live reported Cipher had secured land rights and submitted grid studies to ERCOT, with a target of about 2028.
No local report has covered the Mikeska site directly, and no county commissioners' action, acreage, water plan or tenant has been published. Governor Greg Abbott's August 2026 moratorium on new data center permits, pending an audit by ERCOT and the Public Utility Commission, applies statewide while regulators review power and water use.
