Atlas Capital Group Bloomfield concept (132 Griffin Road North) data center, Bloomfield, Connecticut

Atlas Capital Group, a commercial developer based in New York, has floated a data center with more than 900,000 square feet of data processing space on a 44.5-acre site at 132 Griffin Road North in Bloomfield, Hartford County, Connecticut. The company presented the idea to Bloomfield's Town Plan and Zoning Commission as an informal, conceptual discussion on June 26, 2025, a step before any formal application. Commissioners called the project "worthy of consideration" if it would "not be incompatible with the community surrounding it."

The concept shows a 60-foot-tall building off Route 189 with a 127,000-square-foot open-air substation, two generator yards for backup power, and chillers on the roof. About 40 people would work there. Atlas representative Marisa Fontaine said the substation was needed for a project of this size and that the company had held preliminary talks with the utility Eversource about power.

In 1987 the town accepted a master plan for a mixed-use development on the same property, but that project never moved forward. Bloomfield's Town Plan and Zoning Commission has not taken further public action on the Griffin Road North plan since that June 2025 presentation. A formal site plan application would have to go before that same commission, which decides what, if anything, gets built there.
