Cherokee Data Center, Tulsa, Oklahoma

The Cherokee Data Center at 7400 N. Lakewood Avenue in Tulsa, Tulsa County, Oklahoma, is a nearly 430,000-square-foot data center at Cherokee Industrial Park that has operated since 2001. Hewlett-Packard has owned it since 2014, when it bought the building for $150 million from BNP Paribas Leasing Corp., the Tulsa World reported, and a June 2026 Tulsa news roundup still lists it as HP-owned and operating.

Sabre Inc. built the original 245,200 square feet in 2001; much of the building is underground and designed to withstand a tornado, with walls up to 22 inches thick in places. Electronic Data Systems took over the site in 2002 and added a 184,700-square-foot building in 2008, the same year HP bought EDS for $13.9 billion.

The 2014 purchase may have been the largest real estate deal in Tulsa County's history, said Keith Hulsizer, the county's chief deputy assessor. The property was assessed at $170.2 million, and HP employed about 800 people there at the time.

Google and Beale Infrastructure are now building a much bigger neighbor: Project Clydesdale, a 506-acre data center campus in unincorporated Tulsa County near Cherokee Industrial Park, just west of Owasso, which is expected to bring a new power substation and 1.5 miles of water lines.
