Related Digital broke ground on October 7, 2025 on a $1.2 billion data center campus for CoreWeave on 115 acres at the Cheyenne Business Parkway in Cheyenne, Laramie County, Wyoming. CoreWeave has leased the first 88 megawatts of the campus, and it is planned for up to 302 megawatts in all.

The land came from three men who grew up together in grade school, John and Jim Volk and Mickey Powers, who spent about 30 years developing lots nearby as the Campstool Land Company. "We decided we will only build self-contained cooling systems that do not use water," Related chief executive Jeff Blau said at the groundbreaking, adding that most water on site would go to about six bathrooms. Gov. Mark Gordon said, "This demonstrates that we can build data centers that aren't going to use water."

Blau also gave $3.5 million toward a 184-unit affordable housing project the city had struggled to pay for, and Mayor Patrick Collins said Cheyenne faces a shortage of 5,000 to 7,000 homes by 2030. "We're going to change the lives of 184 families, because now they're going to be looking at 30% of their salaries going to rent," Collins said. Related projects more than $250 million in tax revenue for the state and city over the first 15 years, and 40 permanent jobs.

By June 2026 more than 400 construction workers were on site, with more than 700 expected at the peak, and crews had laid 80,000 feet of chiller pipe and 40,000 feet of medium voltage conduit. The halls use closed loop, direct-to-chip liquid cooling that needs almost no makeup water, and batteries carry the load for about seven minutes in an outage before generators start. Cowboy State Daily reported that Related expects the campus eventually to deliver up to 420 megawatts for CoreWeave, more than the 302 megawatts in the original announcement, with the first 184,000 square foot building due to finish in late 2026.
