Google's London data center capacity is its Google Cloud region europe-west2, which opened in July 2017, and Google does not say where in or around Greater London, in the United Kingdom, its data centers are. "We don't say for a number of reasons, but one is that our customers are actually really keen on not having people know exactly where their application is hosted," Google engineering vice president Benjamin Treynor Sloss told DCD at the launch.

Some reports have suggested the region is hosted in Equinix facilities in Slough, but that has not been confirmed, DCD reported in 2024. Sloss said Google typically offers three data centers in a region, close enough together to replicate data with latency under a millisecond but far enough apart that no normal physical event would hit more than one. The region, formed of three zones, was Google's tenth worldwide and its second in Europe after Belgium. The europe-west2 region went down during the summer 2022 heatwave.

Google's own UK data center is north of London. Google began building on a 33-acre site in Waltham Cross, in the borough of Broxbourne, Hertfordshire, in January 2024, on land it bought in October 2020, and said it would invest $1 billion there. Chancellor Rachel Reeves opened that data center on September 16, 2025 as part of a two-year, £5 billion UK investment by Google, which said the building uses air cooling to limit water use to domestic needs and is equipped to send waste heat off site. Most London-area data center building is to the west, around Slough, Hayes and Iver, and a large campus planned in nearby Havering faces strong opposition, DCD reported.
