NTT Global Data Centers opened its London 1 data center in Dagenham, East London, in 2020, with 12,800 square meters of server space; the first phase delivers 32 megawatts of critical IT power, growing to 64 megawatts once the site is fully built out. The site sits about 10 miles east of London's city center, near the Docklands internet hub that carries most of the London Internet Exchange's traffic.
London 1 runs on 100 percent renewable energy and is engineered for low water use; NTT says it is the only large UK data center certified BREEAM Excellent, a rating covering a project's procurement, design, construction and operation. NTT has said it could more than double its London-area capacity to over 120 megawatts once London 1 and its Hemel Hempstead 4 site are both fully built out.
