OnePartner Duffield Data Center (ATAC), Duffield, Virginia

OnePartner's ATAC data center in Duffield, Scott County, Virginia, has been operating for years as a colocation and disaster recovery site. The company says it was the nation's first commercial data center to earn Tier III certification from the Uptime Institute, and it has had no outages since it opened. The 4,000-square-foot facility grew out of a 2006 plan by Holston Medical Group of Kingsport, Tennessee, to store electronic health records, and it opened as OnePartner ATAC, the Advanced Technology and Applications Center, on the medical center campus.

Announced with the Scott County Economic Development Authority, the project brought more than 40 technology jobs to Duffield. HMG founder Dr. Jerry L. Miller said at the time: "This will be a data center of excellence, a secure, high-availability repository for electronic medical records and data storage." OnePartner keeps round-the-clock staffed security with SOC 2 and SOC 3 compliance, and it says Scott County has never had even an F1 tornado.
