Raeden's Project Taurus, a 50MW data center that would reuse a 451,217-square-foot building on about 22 acres at 1565 High Tech Way in Colorado Springs, El Paso County, Colorado, won city planning approval on June 11, 2026, but a final decision now waits until April 2027. On Sept. 17 the City Council voted 7-2 to push its decision on appeals of that approval to April 13, 2027, a week after the city's municipal election.

The site is already zoned for a data center, and Raeden's co-founder Jason Green has said it would use closed-loop cooling. Sound was the main worry: resident Matt Martin said city noise rules measured in dBA filter out the low hum data centers make, and council members recalled noise hardship permits the mayor granted the Ford Amphitheater. Green said a 40-megawatt data center already sits 100 feet from homes in the city, but Colorado Springs Utilities chief executive Travas Deal said its largest data center customer uses about six megawatts.

"I don't think this is a location that's appropriate for a data center, even if we study this for 6 months or 8 months," said Councilor Dave Donelson, one of three who backed granting the appeal outright. Police arrested four people after a scuffle in the audience at the Sept. 17 meeting; the appeal group Integrity Matters said they were not affiliated with it.

Raeden said it would use the extra time to keep engaging while "carefully evaluating whether or not this is the right partnership for RAEDEN," and the City Council holds the final say on the appeals in April.
