Data centers in Colorado: 10 projects mapped

The largest data center proposed in Colorado is Vantage Data Centers' Trident campus in Aurora: two buildings on 143 acres across the street from new housing, with 334 megawatts of computing capacity and about 500 megawatts of total power demand. Aurora says city staff can approve it without a public hearing because the land is zoned industrial, while state air regulators expect Vantage to hold at least one community meeting before it applies for an air permit. In Colorado Springs, the City Council will decide on Raeden's Project Taurus on April 13, 2027.

About four miles from Trident, QTS is finishing the second of three buildings on its Aurora campus, which will need at least 160 megawatts; it has 40 diesel backup generators and has applied to add 98. Aurora's council voted down a six-month moratorium in August, then unanimously banned evaporative cooling in data centers on September 14. "We are in yet another drought and cannot afford to waste our water resources on a data center," resident Chad Johnson told the council.
