Flexential data centers: 5 sites mapped

Flexential's largest project yet is outside Dallas. On July 28, 2026 the company said it had bought 110 acres near Talty, in Kaufman County, Texas, for a three-building campus: a first 375,000-square-foot, 36 MW building, room for two more the same size, site work starting in early 2027 and first customers in late 2028. Flexential says it will use closed-loop cooling aimed at zero water use.

Talty officials told NBC 5 they have no say over the site, since the land left the city's extraterritorial jurisdiction earlier in 2026 after a landowner petition to the county. Neighboring Forney has directed staff to draft zoning that would bar new data centers inside its limits.

Flexential is a Colorado-based colocation company formed in 2017, when GI Partners bought ViaWest and merged it with Peak 10; Morgan Stanley's infrastructure fund became a co-owner in 2024. DataCenterDynamics reported in June 2026 that it runs 42 data centers in 18 US markets, about 3 million square feet, with more than 330 megawatts built and planned, and that it has raised an $800 million asset-backed loan with another $1.4 billion planned. CoreWeave took 13 MW at its Plano, Texas site in 2025.

CEO Ryan Mallory told DataCenterDynamics that wholesale deals run 1 to 18 MW, with growth concentrated in Atlanta, Charlotte, Dallas, Denver, Hillsboro, Nashville, Phoenix and Salt Lake City. He said Flexential is chasing 22MW to 72MW deals rather than multi-gigawatt campuses, including a 22MW data center in the Parker area of Denver and a 27MW facility in Hillsboro, Oregon, its fifth site there. He said reactions from residents and officials have been a mixed bag, including complaints about water rationing and brownouts.
