Texarkana Data center, Texarkana, Texas

The data center at 507 Olive Street in Texarkana, Bowie County, Texas, is one of eight Windstream switch and data center buildings that JLL put up for sale as a portfolio in August 2024. JLL described the tenant only as a "major home Internet provider," and online listings for each address point to Windstream. The Texarkana building has been leased to that tenant since at least 2014, with the lease running through 2034.

The eight buildings, in Texas, Kentucky, Colorado, Iowa, Arkansas, New Mexico and Georgia, total 379,000 square feet on 26 acres and bring in $5.7 million a year in rent combined. JLL said the buildings are critical infrastructure because they are interconnected transmission facilities that route the tenant's telecommunications traffic across its network.

Windstream was formed in 2006 when Alltel's local telephone business merged with Valor Communications, and some of the buildings in the portfolio were once Alltel or Valor facilities. Windstream sold its separate data center business to TierPoint in 2015 for $575 million, and in 2024 it agreed to merge with Uniti Group to combine Uniti's fiber network with Windstream's fiber-to-the-home business.
