TierPoint - St Louis Olive Data Center, St. Louis, Missouri

TierPoint's St. Louis-Olive data center at 1111 Olive Street in downtown St. Louis, Missouri, is an operating colocation facility the company took over when it bought Cosentry in January 2016. The building is in the city of St. Louis, and it was converted into a data center by Xiolink, which bought it in 2009, before passing to Cosentry in 2014. TierPoint lists more than 124,000 square feet in total and more than 11,000 square feet of raised floor, backed by two redundant generators with at least 48 hours of runtime.

The site is linked by 10G waves to TierPoint's other data centers in the region, including its Millpark Drive site in St. Louis. TierPoint is also growing downtown: in August 2024 it bought the 135,800-square-foot former NSI Building at 2300 Locust Street to convert into a data center in phases, with an unnamed Fortune 100 anchor tenant and up to $150 million of investment.

When the city first debated data centers in September 2025, First Alert 4 noted that two already stood off 11th and Olive, TierPoint's and Netrality's. Mayor Cara Spencer said then that she supported a pause but not a ban, citing concerns about the environment and utility prices, and Planning Commission head Don Roe wrote that the city needed regulations quickly or a pause. The city chose rules, and on Sept. 11, 2026 the Board of Aldermen passed comprehensive data center regulations that restrict where new data centers can be built, limit noise and heat, require renewable energy, and bar city tax incentives for data center projects. Earlier amendments, over the objections of sponsors Anne Schweitzer and Alisha Sonnier, let developers seek a waiver from the 10-year 100% renewable energy requirement.

In the version the Planning Commission approved on June 10, 2026, any data center lawfully in use when the rules take effect becomes an existing nonconforming use that may continue, but enlargements, including more backup generator capacity, must fully comply. The regulations went to Mayor Spencer for her signature after the Sept. 11 vote.
