Stream Data Centers data centers: 11 sites mapped

Stream Data Centers has spent 2026 fighting for its largest proposal: a $19.46 billion, 2.2 million square foot campus at the Science, Technology and Advanced Manufacturing Park in the Town of Alabama, Genesee County, New York, on land less than a mile from the Tonawanda Seneca Nation. "We told them we don't want them as a neighbor," said Grandell Logan, a spokesperson for the Nation. In July 2026 Governor Kathy Hochul ordered a one-year moratorium on state data center permits, and the Nation, the Sierra Club and a town resident sued to void the 2012 zoning agreement that created the park.

At a Town of Alabama Planning Board hearing that ran past midnight, about 73 people spoke, most against the project; building trades members spoke in favor. Stream has asked the county's economic development agency for $1.46 billion in state and local sales tax breaks. "Without the incentives, the project would not come here," said Mark Masse, the agency's chief executive. The state Department of Environmental Conservation has also demanded an updated wetland study before it will weigh in on stormwater permits.

In South Carolina, Stream abandoned a separate project in Marion County in June 2026, citing utility timing; residents had learned its terms only after the county council approved it in January, because members had signed non-disclosure agreements. In Texas, Stream agreed in July 2026 to pay up to $76.5 million for a cancelled hydrogen site near Graham, planning an 890-acre, roughly $10 billion campus there while it negotiates a tax abatement with the city and Young County.
