About 15 data centers are planned or being built in Brandenburg, the state around Berlin, according to project data compiled by Entwicklungsstadt in September 2026. Under construction are the Schwarz Group's "Home of STACKIT" in Lübbenau, about 200 megawatts of power on a former power plant site and due in 2027; Maincubes' BER02 campus in Nauen, also due in 2027; Vantage's BER2 in Mittenwalde; Yondr's campus at Ragow; and Amazon's European Sovereign Cloud data center at Massen. Amazon also plans one at Baruth/Mark, and NTT Data and Virtus plan campuses in Brieselang and Wustermark.
Three projects, at Heidemühle in Hoppegarten, in Neuenhagen and in Trebbin, are paused. In Hoppegarten, the local SPD opposed the Heidemühle site, inside a protected landscape about 100 meters from a nature reserve, where plans called for four to eight backup-power chimneys 30 to 38 meters tall, run for an hour once a month. In Baruth, where Amazon plans its second site, a citizens' group is already fighting Red Bull's right to pump up to 2.35 billion liters of groundwater a year for a can plant, which campaigners say is 92 percent of the town's water allowance.

Google has walked away from its site. In July 2025 it confirmed it would not build its planned data center in Mittenwalde, about 30 kilometers south of Berlin, after "thorough examination of feasibility, general market developments and our business priorities."
The grid is already stretched: as early as 2025 the regional grid could not serve every connection request quickly. In June 2026 the state Greens demanded a statewide plan for where data centers may go, saying Brandenburg must not become "a mere supplier of electricity and land for large digital corporations."
