West Bengal's data centers are gathering around Kolkata, in the Bengal Silicon Valley Tech Hub in New Town and on former Hindustan Motors land at Uttarpara in Hooghly district. NTT opened the first two data centers of its New Town campus in February 2025, a year later than it had said; at full size the campus is to reach 40 megawatts of power on 7.5 acres. At Uttarpara, the Hiranandani Group agreed in 2021 to buy 100 acres for a logistics park and six Yotta data center buildings totaling 250 megawatts, with the first due in 2023.
That first Uttarpara building is not listed as open. Yotta's own website lists live data centers in Navi Mumbai, Greater Noida and GIFT City in Gujarat, and none in West Bengal. Hiranandani put the whole project at more than Rs 10,000 crore and credited "the tremendous support of the government of West Bengal under the leadership of Chief Minister, Mamata Banerjee."
More are announced for New Town. In May 2025 APAC News Network reported that Reliance Jio was building a 40-acre campus there with Microsoft, due in 2026; that Airtel's Nakshatra and LTIMindtree data centers were under way; that an Adani data center was nearing completion; and that ST Telemedia, which already runs a data center in Ultadanga, was building a second.
