Data centers in Warren County, Mississippi: 1 project mapped

Amazon Web Services has begun building a $3 billion data center campus south of Vicksburg along U.S. Highway 61, with its main entrance off Old Cain Ridge Road. AWS named the site in April 2026 and said construction mobilization was under way, with up to 1,250 workers on site at the peak. Amazon has promised at least 200 full-time jobs at the campus and about 300 more in the county.

The state authorized $44 million in incentives, and Warren County supervisors approved a $20 million state loan for roads and other work tied to the project. AWS agreed to make the county's loan payments if they come due before the data center produces tax revenue. Asked about water, AWS's Roger Wehner said the company expects to use water for cooling about 9 percent of the year: "So it's probably 30 days out of the year ... Probably somewhere around August."

Entergy Mississippi is building the Vicksburg Advanced Power Station, a gas plant replacing the Baxter Wilson plant, which closed in 2022 and cost Vicksburg and Warren County an estimated $3.2 million a year in taxes. "We were only going to build one new power plant for the next five or six years," said Entergy's Ed Gardner. "Now we're building three new gas plants." AWS says it pays the full cost of its energy use and related infrastructure.
