Cielo Des Moines data center, Des Moines, Iowa

Cielo Digital Infrastructure, a Texas company that finds and sells sites for data centers, is marketing a 150 megawatt (a measure of power) site in Des Moines, Polk County, Iowa, that it calls Des Moines 1. The site is 166 acres, with 145 acres usable for construction. No data center has been approved or built there, and Cielo has not named a buyer or end user for the site.

Cielo was founded in 2023 and previously developed a large campus in Culpeper County, Virginia, that it sold to Edgecore. It calls itself a site developer rather than an operator: "We identify and negotiate sites ready for data center development," its website reads. Its backer, the Texas investment firm Arroyo Investors, lists its investment in Cielo as realized in March 2026.

As of its most recent property listing, from March 2026, Cielo was still marketing the Des Moines site alongside a second Iowa site, Middle Creek, at 343 acres. No local vote or hearing has been reported for the Des Moines site because no government body has yet taken up a proposal for it.
