EdgeCore Reno (Sparks) data center, McCarran, Nevada

EdgeCore Digital Infrastructure is building a 216 megawatt data center campus on 56 acres along USA Parkway in the Tahoe-Reno Industrial Center at McCarran, Storey County, Nevada, about 250 miles from Silicon Valley. Construction began in August 2023, nearly five years after EdgeCore first planned the site, with NV Energy supplying power to an on-site substation. The company said completion was expected as early as late 2025; as of September 2026 its own site still describes the three buildings in the future tense, saying, "Upon completion, the campus will total nearly 1M sq ft of space."

EdgeCore says the campus uses a closed loop, air-cooled system that needs almost no water, and it has given the Storey County Sheriff's Department radios and a search and rescue vehicle and supported county health and veterans' services. The industrial center already hosts or has land held by Switch, Google, Tract, Novva, Vantage, PowerHouse, Apple and Microsoft, and NV Energy's Greenlink transmission line, whose cost grew from an estimated $2.5 billion to $4.2 billion, ends at the Comstock Meadows Substation there. NV Energy has promised Switch, Novva and other companies up to 4,000 megawatts for data centers around Reno.

Water is the bigger local worry: Storey County averages about 11 inches of rain a year, and the industrial center draws from the Truckee River, which also supplies the Pyramid Lake Paiute Tribe downstream. The tribe and groups including the Water over Data Alliance have pushed back against new development in the corridor.
