Equinix runs SE4, a one story data center at 6906 South 204th Street in Kent, King County, Washington, with 75,003 square feet of colocation space connected to carriers including CenturyLink and Verizon. The site has N+1 backup power and generators rated for at least 30 hours at full load, and Equinix says it uses free cooling, hot and cold aisle containment, and was matched with wind and solar renewable energy certificates in 2025.

Washington's Utilities and Transportation Commission is writing rules so large power users like data centers do not shift costs onto other electric customers, after a bill to regulate data centers' power use died in the state legislature. Kent itself has not passed a moratorium, unlike nearby Seattle, Burien and Federal Way, and the commission's rate guidelines were still being drafted as of August 2026.
