Elon Musk said on X on July 29, 2026 that xAI is building a fourth Memphis-area data center, Minihard, next to its Colossus 2 and Macro-harder sites along Tulane Road in Memphis, Shelby County, Tennessee. He said Minihard will hold the same 220,000 GB300 chips as Macro-harder, in a denser configuration, Action News 5 reported. The project is under construction.

The power for the Colossus 2 site that Minihard is joining is under challenge in federal court. In April 2026 the NAACP and its Mississippi State Conference sued xAI and its subsidiary MZX Tech over gas turbines running without an air permit at Southaven, Mississippi, saying the emissions threaten homes, schools and churches in north Mississippi and the Memphis area. "A data center should not be a potential death sentence for a community's health," said Abre' Conner, the NAACP's director of environmental and climate justice.

By May 2026 the turbine count had grown to 33 and the NAACP asked the court for an injunction to halt the pollution; Conner said xAI "showed no remorse by adding six more turbines." In July 2026 xAI said it would remove all 69 temporary turbines at the Southaven site between August 2026 and July 2027 and replace them with a permanent 1.2-gigawatt, 41-turbine power plant.
