xAI and X run an AI computing cluster inside the QTS data center at 1025 Jefferson Street NW in Atlanta, Fulton County, Georgia, operating on about 17 megawatts of IT power, the research group Epoch AI estimates. Documents filed with Develop Fulton list about 12,448 Nvidia GPUs, mostly H100s, and $700 million in chips, cables and other equipment, with X contributing $442 million and xAI $258 million.

The equipment trains large language models and search products for X; the deal that brought it says 24 jobs will be kept at the site and none added. Epoch AI estimates the cluster came online around early 2025, when Business Insider reported the buildout, and its satellite images show no significant change to the building since.

The Development Authority of Fulton County approved a $10.125 million, 10-year tax break for X's equipment on January 23, 2024, voting 6-2, with Kyle Lamont and Erica Long against. An identical request had been rejected in November 2023, when X projected a $1.09 billion economic impact over 10 years, a figure it later cut to $241 million without explanation.

X had threatened to move the project to Portland, Oregon, and nine Fulton residents spoke against the deal. "Gifting public money to a purveyor of hate speech is not simply wasting money as many of these deals tend to do," said Jim Martin, chairman of Neighborhood Planning Unit D. The abatement is split between X and xAI based on their share of the hardware, a Develop Fulton representative told Business Insider in 2025.
