Data centers in Abu Dhabi: 7 projects mapped
Abu Dhabi is building the UAE-US AI Campus, a 10-square-mile site announced by the U.S. and UAE presidents in May 2025, to be built by the Emirati AI company G42 and expected to grow to about 5 gigawatts of power. Its first 1-gigawatt piece is Stargate UAE, which G42's data center arm Khazna is developing with OpenAI, Oracle, Nvidia, Cisco and SoftBank. Khazna says it is on track to hand the first capacity to customers before the end of 2026.
In December 2025 Mubadala chief Khaldoon Al Mubarak said the first 200 megawatts would be ready in the third quarter of 2026, with more than 5,000 workers on site and over 100,000 cubic meters of concrete poured, The National reported. In August 2026 Khazna's Greg Jasmin told Khaleej Times two 100-megawatt buildings had been enclosed and installation was under way inside, and that work continued through the recent regional conflict without delivery delays.
Power is the open question. "It's not just Khazna building a data centre," Jasmin said. "It's the power generation, the transmission, the distribution to the site." In May 2025 UAE Energy Minister Suhail al-Mazrouei told a conference in Abu Dhabi that electricity demand for data centers was "overwhelming." Khazna, which controls about 70% of the UAE's operating data center capacity, also runs sites in Masdar City, where it added a 32-megawatt facility, and in Al Ain.
