Meta runs a data center campus in the North Huntsville Industrial Park, one of the largest in Alabama, and the city approved a $750 million expansion in 2021 that would bring the site to nearly 600 acres. DC BLOX also operates a smaller data center in Huntsville.

The city improved Monroe and Liberty Hill roads and added a traffic signal on Pulaski Pike for Meta, and Meta paid $2.5 million of a $2.8 million sewer extension. "They are paying their way," said Shane Davis, the city's economic development director, who estimated the second campus would add $8 million to $10 million a year for local schools once complete.

Meta's power draw is matched by a 1,000-acre solar farm the company built across the state line in Lincoln County, Tennessee. Power for both Huntsville sites comes from the Tennessee Valley Authority, whose board approved a new rate class for data centers taking effect October 1, 2026, phased in over three years, with roughly a 10 percent average bill increase and a capacity charge of about $1.5 million per megawatt for large new loads. Huntsville Utilities chief executive Wes Kelley has told the city council Huntsville will not offer incentives to recruit data centers.
