The one live data center idea in San Mateo County is at the Cow Palace in Daly City, where California-based Global Stack wants to lease about five acres for a small "edge" data center drawing up to 10 megawatts of power, plus a parking garage and a helicopter pad. The deal would need a 100-year land agreement. Cow Palace CEO Allison Keaney said in July that the venue was still doing its due diligence; no decision has been announced.
Global Stack pitched the same idea to seven other Bay Area fairgrounds, including the San Mateo County Event Center in San Mateo. It says it hopes to build at 70 California fairgrounds by 2030. The Calistoga fairgrounds committee in Napa County rejected it quickly after residents objected to noise and pollution.
In Brisbane, the Guadalupe Quarry plan on San Bruno Mountain no longer includes a data center. Developer Orchard Partners had proposed a 180,000-square-foot data center alongside an industrial building, but now says its Quarry Innovation Center "does NOT include a data center" and would be one 892,000-square-foot advanced manufacturing building on about 61 acres, with 82 acres kept as open space. The city circulated a corrected notice for a new draft environmental report on August 6, 2026. Del Schembari of the Mountain Butterfly Collective called it "wrong project, wrong place."
