Project Rockforge, a data center campus proposed on about 282 acres near Northwest Farmer Road, Irwin Bridge Road and Rockbridge Road outside Conyers, is waiting on rezoning by the county commission; the applicant is MMM Acquisitions LLC, and Atlanta's Grind Capital Group is linked to the project. Its rezoning hearing was scheduled for September 24, 2026; no result has been published. Commissioners are due to take up countywide data center rules on October 6, and the county's pause on new data center applications runs through October 9.

DC BLOX is already building a 750,000-square-foot campus on 72 acres on Farmer Road, with 216 megawatts of power committed by Georgia Power, less than half a mile from the Rockforge land. "This is where we grew up. This is where we raised our children," Farmer Road resident Linda Aikens-Young told WSB-TV. Grind says Rockforge could raise the county's tax base by more than 50 percent.

At the planning commission in July, planning director Brandon White called the application "insufficient" on energy and water use, and the county water department said it had received no water demand figures. "The demand is not submitted to us," Tim Cotton said. Grind's attorney, Michelle Battle, said the developer gave everything the application required and would supply engineering studies.

Commissioner Doreen Williams plans to recuse herself from Grind's rezoning after resident Ann Sapp said Grind had sponsored Williams' nonprofit brunch on August 20 while its applications were pending. Grind said the $500 sponsorship was paid to the county government and tied to no vote. No ethics violation has been found. Her recusal leaves two voting members on the three-member board.
