Data centers in Perry County, Pennsylvania: 1 project mapped

Perry County's data center proposal sits on land that was meant to be a warehouse hub. MRP Industrial, an East Coast developer of business parks and logistics buildings, dropped a logistics project called Susquehanna Crossings on a 288-acre parcel in Watts Township near Duncannon in late 2025, then submitted a site plan for ten data center buildings of 138,000 square feet each instead. MRP has not said how much power the campus would need or who would use it. Watts Township has no data center rules yet, and is considering a zoning amendment that would allow them.

More than 125 people packed the Watts-Buffalo Community Center for an April 1, 2026 supervisors' meeting, so many it moved outside, and supervisors put off a full hearing. Susan Fulmer, who moved to the township in 2020 to build a retirement home, listed her fears as property values, electricity bills, noise and light pollution, and pollution of the Susquehanna River: "Now it seems like everything we spent our entire lives working for to achieve is going to be taken." The politics do not split along the usual lines: some conservative speakers opposed the project over rising costs, while the county Republican Party chair, Donald McClure, said he supports data centers and was jeered for it. MRP vice president Nate Chadsey told the meeting the site had "significant visual buffering and distance from residents" and would create jobs.

The township held a public hearing on the zoning amendment on June 25, 2026, with a special meeting immediately after to consider adopting it. The outcome has not been made public since. The township's next supervisors' meeting was moved to September 21, 2026.
