Agincourt Investments' plan for a data center campus in Valparaiso, Porter County, Indiana, collapsed within days of residents packing a city council meeting to oppose it, and the project is cancelled. The developer had an option, signed in January 2025, to buy 180 acres of city-owned farmland east of Indiana 49 for four two-story buildings of 157,000 square feet each.

More than 500 residents filled Valparaiso's City Hall on March 10, 2025, and the council heard more than 90 minutes of opposition even though the data center was not on the agenda. "I don't like this deal. It stinks," said Greg Kuehl, who described himself as the largest landowner next to the site. The next day, Mayor Jon Costas said Agincourt had agreed to withdraw its option: "Our citizens have spoken decisively that they believe this is a project that is not in the best interests of the city."

City attorney Patrick Lyp said Valparaiso would not have to repay the federal pandemic relief money it had used to buy the 248-acre tract for an earlier, abandoned sports complex. Development director George Douglas had said on March 3, 2025, that the city had "no design and no site plan," and Valparaiso University political scientist Jennifer Hora called the handling "not transparency."

In July 2026 the Valparaiso council voted 6 to 1 on first reading to strip the two-year end date from a proposed data center moratorium and sent it to the Plan Commission for a hearing. Councilman Peter Anderson cast the lone no vote: "The whole idea behind a moratorium is that it's temporary. It requires an end date." The measure now awaits a Plan Commission hearing before it can return to the council for a final vote.
