QTS withdrew its plan for a data center campus in Union Township, Porter County, Indiana. The company had sought to rezone about 800 acres near Wheeler High School for the project. Residents opposed the plan, and QTS withdrew the rezoning request.
Hundreds of residents attended a county meeting and raised concerns about power use, environmental effects and public health. QTS said it would not proceed because the conditions made the development economically difficult. County commissioner Jim Biggs said he wished the proposal had received a full county hearing.
