QTS data centers: 40 sites mapped

QTS gave up in July on what would have been the largest data center campus in the world. On July 2, 2026 it withdrew its Virginia Supreme Court appeal over the Prince William Digital Gateway, planned across 2,000 acres beside Manassas National Battlefield Park, saying it had decided "to terminate the Digital Gateway project" after courts voided the county's 2023 rezoning over improper public notice.

Its Fayetteville, Georgia campus, one of the largest in the country, became a story about water. A May 2025 county letter showed the site had used nearly 30 million gallons without paying, through a connection installed without the utility's knowledge. QTS called any suggestion of improper use "categorically false," blamed a billing error, and paid a retroactive $147,000 bill. The company says about 8,000 workers are on site at peak on a campus planned for up to 13 buildings.

In York County, South Carolina, residents near a $1 billion QTS campus under construction have petitioned against it over traffic, blasting and constant construction noise. "If I had known that and all that would follow with it, we could've gone somewhere else," resident Melanie Cody said. QTS doubled its footprint there in December 2025 by buying another 400 acres.

In Wisconsin, QTS moved a 1,600-acre Dane County proposal from the Town of Vienna, which had voted it down, to the village of DeForest. Emails obtained by a local group show the village president discussed the move with QTS before the public was notified. Residents in DeForest have organized to stop it.
