Amazon Web Services has permission to build three data centers on Cruiserath Road in Mulhuddart, Blanchardstown, County Dublin, Ireland, with a combined power load of 73 megawatts. An Coimisiun Pleanala approved the project on December 26, 2025, after Fingal County Council had approved it in 2023 and five appeals delayed the final decision for two years.

The appeals, from Friends of the Earth and four other objectors, argued the project's carbon footprint was too high. Consultants estimated the three buildings would emit 213,840 tonnes of carbon dioxide in 2025, falling to 132,164 tonnes by 2030 as Ireland's electricity grid gets cleaner. The commission concluded the project "would have no unacceptable impacts on the environment or on property in the vicinity."

Permission carries one condition: before the data centers can switch on, Amazon must sign a contract to buy renewable electricity matching everything the buildings use, known as a corporate power purchase agreement. That mirrors new rules Ireland's energy regulator set in December 2025 when it lifted a four year freeze on new data center grid connections in the Dublin area, requiring on-site backup power and at least 80 percent renewable supply.

No start of construction has been reported since the December 2025 approval. The next step is for Amazon to sign that renewable power contract before it can begin operating the site.
