Cavalier Innsbrook Data Center, Glen Allen, Virginia

The Innsbrook data center at 4551 Cox Road in Glen Allen, in Henrico County outside Richmond, Virginia, now operates under Uniti Group, a fiber company that took it over through a corporate merger. Uniti and Windstream Holdings announced the merger in May 2024, combining Uniti's wholesale fiber network with Windstream's fiber-to-the-home business.

The deal, unanimously approved by both companies' boards, was expected to close in the second half of 2025 and gives Uniti shareholders about 62% of the combined company, with Windstream shareholders getting $425 million in cash and $575 million in preferred equity.

Uniti, based in Little Rock, Arkansas, owns fiber and wireless towers with about 138,000 fiber route miles; Windstream, also based in Little Rock, provides rural broadband and had been one of Uniti's biggest customers. The two companies were once the same business: Uniti was originally part of Windstream before they split in 2015 and renegotiated their lease agreement.
